My Goals for 2018

Happy New Year Everyone!

I was very lucky to ring in the new year with some great friends. It also meant that me and my boyfriend will be going into our 4th year of being together (awwww).

There are so many things happening in 2018 and I want to document as much as possible.

On the 9th Jan – I will be getting my first tattoo which I will definitely be blogging about!

On the 12th Jan – I am going to be turning 22 and I may do a little birthday haul of what I get if that’s something you’re interested in?

Also if you did not know I am taking part in R.E.D January and will be documenting my experience throughout. I have written about why I am taking part and you can check that out here: Why?

In May I will have 2 exams and then my university career is complete!

I want to set myself some goals as I’ve found that if I do that I get a great sense of achievement and it helps me feel that I am actually doing something with my life.

Let’s see what I can look back on in 2019 and see if I’ve completed my goals.

1. By the end of 2018 I will have passed my driving test

Before I started university in 2014 I was driving for around a year but due to certain circumstances out of my control I never actually got to take my test. It’s something i’ve kicked myself about for a long time and I just want to be able to drive! When I finish university this year I will start to drive again and pass my test by the end of the year. The though of this excites me as I will finally get freedom to drive around and I am sure my boyfriend will be very relieved that I could drive us places.

2. I will have graduated with a 2:1

2017 was the year of my boyfriend graduating and for 2018 it will be my turn! Because of my placement I am graduating a year later than a few people on my course and I got to see them graduate in November and I got so jealous. I’ve always been told that final year is one of the most stressful years of university but so far I am remaining confident and trying to be as organised as possible. Of course I will be celebrating with a holiday or two…but my graduation is not until November so you will have to wait for those pictures.

If you want to know how I remain ‘stress-free’ check out my tips here: How?

3. Reach 200 followers on my blog

I am really proud of the progress I made in 2017 with my blog reaching 100 followers and I would love to be able to double that this year. If you are reading and are not subscribed yet then why not do so? If you like my posts.

200 followers does not sound like a lot but for me I could not believe it I love hearing it when people like reading my posts and it’s just the small things that I really appreciate. I look forward to plenty of travels this year with plenty of amazing photography and I can’t wait to see how my blog develops.

Let me know what you would like me to write about this year, I appreciate all of your feedback.

4. Improve my German language

I’ve always enjoyed learning new languages and for a while I was dedicated to want to learn Spanish fluently. I thought of it because it is spoken a lot in many destinations and I thought it would open up more doors to me. However recently I have rethought this, when me and Phil went to Berlin almost exactly a year ago we absolutely fell in love with it. All the people we met were so lovely and despite not learning German since secondary school I found that I still picked up many words quite easily.

I would love to go back to Germany this year and have progressed with the language further at the end of the year. It would be a huge confidence boost to me to be able to speak a foreign language fluently and honestly it will help me so much in my future career.

Let’s see what happens, if you guys have any tips on the best ways to learn a language let me know. I am going to give the app Duolingo a go and do some work everyday and see where that takes me.

5. To broaden my travel bug

For someone who absolutely adores travel, I haven’t actually travelled a lot. Compared to some people I probably have travelled a lot but there are so many places I haven’t been. I want to tick off many places off my list this year and start preparing for a large trip maybe in 2019. I’ve never travelled anywhere long haul independently/with my boyfriend I would love to go to America…or Scandinavia…or Japan… I mean how do I choose it’s so difficult?

There are at least 3 trips that I wish to take this year:

  • Celebratory girls trip with my flatmate to celebrate finishing university together in June.
  • Long weekend in Budapest with Phil + a load of our friends.
  • Head back up to Scotland and do some driving around with Phil as I’d love to explore it even more and do some hiking.

These are just a start of what I want planned for this year and by starting off small I am excited to see where else I could go!

6. Increase my confidence even further…

Lastly I want to keep pushing myself to increase my confidence. I’ve already mentioned that I am taking part in R.E.D and that is to push my fitness, I’ve always wanted to be a runner and if I can not only increase my fitness but do it for a good cause then why not?

If you wish to donate to my fundraising then head over to my Just Giving page. I’ve already raised 40% of my £150 target, if I can smash that out of the water it would be absolutely incredible.

My confidence grew a lot in 2017 and I would love to develop that this year. I want to be able to speak up when I want to express my opinion and not second guess myself so much. I’d love to be more pro-active and seek out more opportunities for myself and trust myself more with any decisions that I make.

I’d love to even take up some type of self defence again that I used to do for around 10 years and it used to empower me so much and let me tell you all know, it’s a perfect stress release. Let’s see if I can find some good classes and take up that old hobby again!

I can’t wait to look back on my goals and check in with you all regularly with my progress. We always make new years resolutions but we all know they are difficult to stick to but these goals I am genuinely passionate about.

Tell me know in the comments what your goals are and let’s motivate each other!
