Good Evening guys,
I hope you all had an amazing break with your loved ones. I spent mine back home in York with my family and friends but now I’m back in Sheffield for a couple of days to work and then I’m heading back for New Years.
It was amazing being back home seeing my family and just having a relaxing time together with so much food. Honestly, I need to get my butt to the gym ASAP but 2018 is going to be an exciting one for me.
I thought that I’d do a post all about what i’m grateful as spending time on my own and with loved ones gets my mind going about how great my life is. Normally I know this is done around Thanksgiving season but I thought as we are creeping ever closer to 2018 I would do a few posts all about my reflections including travels and things I’m thankful for.
Let’s get right into it:
Okay, so this is probably an obvious one. It’s so easy as a student to become independent and whenever you go home you get immediately annoyed being bossed around and yes, sometimes I’ve had that. However for some reason being in my final year of university my attitude has immediately changed. I think because this year I moved out of home all over again and the fact I’m not working in York anymore it hit me how much I appreciate them.
I think it comes from the fact that 2017 has also been a pretty bad year and it has made me so grateful for my family and made me realise how lucky I am. In 2018 I will be graduating university and I can’t wait to see my families faces when I get my cap and gown it’s something I’ve thought of a lot recently as I’m inching ever closer to finally finishing uni!
I am grateful to have such incredible people in my life not only from my own family but my boyfriends too who I feel are like my 2nd family, in 2018 I hope for us all to do more together and spend an incredible year full of new experiences.
As part of one of my 2017 resolutions it was to meet up with old friend and build up those relationships again. I am so lucky to have incredible friends in my life that make me always forget my stresses and this year I got back in contact with two close friends from my primary school. We haven’t met up as much as we should have done but just being back in contact with them felt so amazing.
We watched our old school play and although we haven’t spoken properly in so many years it felt like we were back to normal again. I hope 2018 brings even more times with my lovely girls.
I also got to carry on our tradition of meeting up with my secondary school friends on Christmas Eve for our annual catch up and it was so much fun. I love them guys a lot and we always make sure we make time to catch up and talk to each other and just have a right good laugh.
This year also brought me closer and helped me meet new friends. Being back at university in my final year has been one of the best so far living with the most wonderful flatmate ever and making a new best friend who is just as mad as we are. I can’t wait to smash through this final year together with them.
Long Distance Relationship
I have talked about my lovely boyfriend a lot on this blog already but what I haven’t touched upon is the fact that we have a ‘long-distance’ relationship. We are not lucky to live with each other or just around the corner throughout our almost 4 year relationship. We live a short train ride away from each other when we are both back home but I’m still at university so he drives around an hour to see me. It’s not easy with me being at uni and him working full-time but we make it work.
We’ve made it work throughout his entire university career and in 2017 he graduated and I could not have been prouder, look how cute we all are.
Now 2018 will bring my graduation and honestly it can not come quick enough!
I am powering through my coursework and it’s tough being in a long distance relationship when he comes to visit especially when I have to do work, but we make time to chill out and we understand that I have to get work done and so does he.
Let’s see what 2018 brings as we will both be working and I wonder where we will travel next…
In 2017 I finished the most incredible placement I could have wished for. It wasn’t the most glamorous and I wasn’t working anywhere exotic I was back home. I worked in such a lovely team and had the best mentor ever. I was so sad to leave but looking back on what we achieved as a team and where I got to go it made me so happy.
It’s helped me so much being back at university I am so much more confident and happy with my work and that’s all thanks to those I worked with.
I travelled to London, Scotland and the Isle of Man, you never know in 2018 I might go back and we will see what else it brings.
As you can see above my placement gave me some great travel opportunities. But 2017 also brought me and my boyfriend 3 great trips including Berlin, Venice and Scotland.
You can check out my Travel Review for 2017 and let me know what you think.
Where shall I travel to in 2018 leave me some recommendations in the comments.
